dmenu is a simple tool which takes text input and transforms it to menu items.

To implement a quick access for your common files, one can simple ls a directory and pipe the files to dmenu. This combined with cat or $EDITOR, can create fast note taking workflows.

abbr f "cd ~/Files && ls ~/Files/ | dmenu -l 30"
abbr ff "cat (cd ~/Files && ls ~/Files/ | dmenu -l 30)"
abbr fe "$EDITOR (cd ~/Files && ls ~/Files/ | dmenu -l 30)"
